Gemiler Bay – is another extraordinary place near Ölüdeniz and Fethiye. Opposite the bay is the island of the same name – Gemiler Island. This island has the second name – St. Nicholas. It is believed, that this place was the center of the spread of Christianity in this region of the Byzantine Empire.
K Gemiler Bay only one road leads, it passes through the ghost town of Kaya-key (there just has a single pointer to Gemiler). The road is narrow and unfenced, two cars pass each other hard – on one side of the mountain, and the other open. Also quiet driving difficult beautiful views – постоянно отвлекают внимание 🙂
Gemiler Bay – this place, as elsewhere on the coast, for relax. Here there is also a small cafe, Well, you can own on the grill cook something.
With the bay by boat, you can cross over to the island and wander through the ruins there is a large ancient Byzantine city. In the northern part of the city can be found the ruins of the sunken pier and warehouse, and at the very top of the island – ruins of the church of St. Nicholas.
The entrance to the bay for an extra charge – 10 TL with car.
